Is this a Funeral?

No. The Soul’s Departure is not a legal cremation or burial service. It does not replace the need for a cremation or burial. No coffins arrive at Kaelith. This is a ceremony of remembrance, a sacred space to honour and transform grief.

Who is it for?

Families who felt the funeral was rushed or incomplete.
Those who had no funeral or no body present.
Those who were not able to attend the funeral (due to pandemic restrictions)
Anyone wanting to gather later, at their own pace.
People seeking a remembrance that reflects the person truly, not a template.

What happens on the day?

Every Soul’s Departure is bespoke. A typical flow may include:

Arrival & welcome with tea and grounding.
Opening the space in Kaelith with candles and a Blessing.
Story & remembrance - music, readings, laughter, tears.
Ritual by fire - offerings of letters, flowers, or words unsaid.
Meal & memory-sharing around the table.
Closing Blessing to carry you home.

This flow can be adapted to include personal rituals, cultural or faith traditions, or specific family requests.

Where does it take place?

In Kaelith, the Fire House of Remembrance, nestled in the woods of the Ards Peninsula, Northern Ireland. Sheltered, warm, and safe, she is designed for remembrance and ritual around the hearth.

What about Children?

Yes, children are welcome. Gentle roles, creative supplies, and age-sensitive ways to take part are included.

How much does it cost?

The cost reflects materials, food, and the deep spiritual value of the work.

A non-refundable booking fee secures your date.
Balance is due before the ceremony.
Once we’ve spoken about your person and your wishes, I’ll provide a clear outline of costs.

I value transformation over transaction; this is about energy exchange, not just numbers on a page.

Safety & Safeguarding

Kaelith is a sheltered fire house; the fire is always supervised.
Accessibility, parking, and facilities are discussed in advance.
We work respectfully with fire, weather, and personal needs.

Can we bring faith or cultural traditions?

Yes. We aim to accommodate as much as we can. The Soul's Departure is not led by any faith or religion but draws on the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

The Soul’s Departure weaves in what matters most to you, whether that’s scripture, song, ancestral rites, or silence.

What can we bring?

Bring what helps tell their story and honour their Soul:

Photos, letters, favourite music or readings.
Biodegradable offerings for the fire (flowers, notes, herbs).
Memory objects for the altar (these are taken home afterwards).
